Controller Pilot DataLink Communications – Future
Air Navigation System (CPDLC-FANS 1/A+)
Once EASy II Baseline is installed, FANS (Future Air Navigation Services) is one of many EASy II options available to further enhance your navigation capabilities.
FANS 1/A was initially designed to improve communication and surveillance over remote areas of the world prioritizing data communications over Satcom networks. The related services are available in most oceanic airspaces worldwide and could also support routing benefits in the near future. EASy II complies with the latest FANS 1/A+ standard, and supports the following services:
CPDLC (Controller Pilot Data Link Communications)
ADS-C (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Contract)
FANS 1/A+ is mainly supported by the Satcom, however, when within VHF range, the system will also use the third VHF in DATA mode.
Please note:
The Honeywell MCS-7120 and the Aviator 700D are the only Satcoms certified on Falcon aircraft supporting the FANS 1/A+ application. Dassault is working with other Satcom manufacturers to assess the certification of FANS 1/A+ on aircraft with EASy II and other types of Satcoms commonly installed, such as Thrane & Thrane and Aircell Axxess II Satcoms. Check back here for future updates on the availability of these Satcoms.
In some FANS 1/A or FANS 1/A+ airspaces, only CPDLC or ADS-C may be supported by the local Air Navigation Service Providers. The availability of these services as well as the crew operating procedures will therefore vary with the route flown.
