Wide Area Augmentation System – Localizer Performance
with Vertical Guidance (WAAS – LPV)
Once EASy II Baseline is implemented, the Wide Area Augmentiation System – Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (WAAS-LPV) capability is the first of many EASy II options to enhance your operational capabilities.
By removing dependence on ground stationed navigational aids, WAAS-LPV gives you access to more than 3000 extra approaches (principally in the US).
This feature offers lower minimums than standard LNAV/VNAV GPS approaches, near ILS Category I minimums with no ILS on the field. The capability proposed is compatible with WAAS, as well as the European Geo Navigation Overlay System (EGNOS) and is expected to be also compatible with other future Space-based Augmentation Systems (SBAS).
Benefits
- Increased number of accessible airports
- Lower minimums than standard LNAV/VNAV GPS approaches
- GPS horizontal / vertical guidance down to 200 ft. minimums (near ILS Cat I minimums)
- Maximized commonality with ILS or LNAV-VGP approaches
- Compatible with with WAAS, EGNOS and SBAS
